Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Becomes the New Standard for Shooting Using an Android Phone

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Becomes the New Standard for Shooting Using an Android Phone

Andrianus.my.id - Qualcomm has announced the presence of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 as its newest chipset , and will be ready to be installed on all flagship Android cellphone brands next year.

With the introduction of this new chipset , the company from the United States also brings a number of improvements, especially in the Hexagon AI processor on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Combined with the Sensing Hub which contains an AI audio processor and supports the always-sensing camera feature , Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is able to boost AI performance 4.35x from the previous generation.

Even though it has high performance, it turns out that the company can reduce battery power consumption by up to 60 percent.

Armed with this technology, Qualcomm claims that cellphone vendors can optimize their camera capabilities to compete with Google's Tensor chipset on Pixel phones.

Through the new Snapdragon Sight, Qualcomm is able to define a new era of taking pictures using an Android cellphone like using a professional camera.

Through the world's first cognitive ISP ( image signal processor ) made by Qualcomm, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 can automatically enhance photos and videos in real-time with what is called semantic segmentation.

What is semantic segmentation?

Judd Heape, vice president, product management, camera, computer vision and video, Qualcomm, explains that this is a process whereby an AI neural network can make the camera contextually aware of faces, facial features, hair, clothing, skies, and other factors.

"This feature also optimizes them individually so that every detail receives a customized professional image tuning," he says.

Take for example, when taking a picture of someone wearing glasses you will see a reflection from their lens.

With Qualcomm's new technology, reflections in the glasses of photo objects can be removed naturally so that they look more attractive.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 also supports new image sensors, including Sony, which was the first to develop quad digital overlay HDR technology.

Qualcomm's new chipset also supports the Samsung ISOCELL HP3, the 200-megapixel smartphone sensor that has been hyped up over the last year but has yet to appear on Samsung devices.

Combined with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Qualcomm says this high-resolution sensor will be able to deliver professional-quality photos and videos.
