Utilization of Learning Technology in Adapting to the Covid-19 Pandemic

Not long ago, at the end of 2021, face-to-face learning activities (PTM) were held, now they are being switched back to online learning, along with the soaring number of Covid-19 cases. The pandemic is not over yet, but community activities, especially learning in schools, must continue. Various parties work hand in hand to continue to drive post-pandemic recovery efforts.

In line with the vision of the G20 Indonesia Presidency, Recover Together, Recover Stronger , Pulih Together, Bangkit Perkasa, as stated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Mendikbudristek), Nadiem Anwar Makarim in the G20 on Education and Culture Kick Off.

There are four main issues that will be discussed at the G20 forum, namely the Quality of Education for All ( Universal Quality Education ), Digital Technology in Education ( Digital Technologies in Education ), Solidarity and Partnerships ( Solidarity and Partnership ), and the Future of the World of Work Post-Covid-19 Pandemic. 19 ( The Future of Work Post Covid-19 ).

The pandemic brought rapid changes in various fields of life, including education, thus forcing everyone to learn adaptively, one of which is through digital technology instruments. There is an extraordinary acceleration in the use of digital technology in education during the pandemic. For this reason, technology was appointed as one of the priority issues in the 2022 G20 on Education and Culture forum .

Digital technology in education is not only about the physical contribution of technology as a learning tool but also a multidimensional concept, such as citing one definition of learning technology according to the Association for Educational Communications and Technology, namely: educational technology is the study and ethical practice of facilitating learning. and improving performance by creating, using, and managing appropriate technological processes and resources, (AECT, 2004). Technology is expected to be the answer to the problems of access, quality, and social justice in education. Because, one of the impacts of the pandemic is the widening inequality in access to quality education. How is technology used in education and learning? Call it the use of e-learning for example, is actually a representation of the use of technology in education and learning.

There are many platforms and various learning technologies that can be utilized by students and teachers according to their learning needs. Teachers can take advantage of existing or available digital technology-based learning resources or develop their own specifically.

The following are several types of learning technologies that can be used to support the achievement of learning goals in schools, including: Learning House Portal, Educational Television, Educational Voice Radio, Learning Accounts (Belajar.id), and so on.

Home Learning Portal

The Learning House Portal which was launched on July 15, 2011 is an innovation in digital learning technology based on multi -platform and media. The portal developed by the Ministry of Education and Culture through Pusdatin (formerly Pustekkom) can be accessed free of charge on the website or the Rumah Belajar mobile application . It provides learning materials and communication facilities that support interaction between the student community and teachers at various levels.

The main features available allow students to study anywhere, anytime, with anyone. There are Learning Resources Features, Virtual Classes, Augmented Reality , Edugames, Virtual Laboratories, and so on. 

Educational Television

Quality educational television broadcasting services for students from all paths, levels and types of education, education practitioners, and the public, in order to support national education goals. Since October 12, 2004, Television Education has been present to present learning video media content packaged in various program formats, including: Learning from Home Program (BDR), Instructional, Culture and Literacy, Vocational, Character Education, Formal and Non-formal Education, Fairy tales , FTV, and so on. Watching Educational Television shows can be done through various channels, both streaming and video on demand (VOD) , namely on the Television Education webpage , the Youtube channel of Educational Television , Mitra TV Edukasi, Vidio.com , Useetv.com , and others.

Educational Voice Radio

Even though learning from home, it will still be fun accompanied by the soft voices of broadcasters, resource persons, and also learning programs to students' study rooms directly through Voice Education broadcasts or podcasts . Educational radio broadcasting services for students from all paths, levels, and types of education, the educational community, and the community, in order to support national education goals. 

With the tagline Familiar and Educating, Suara Edukasi has been broadcast since January 12, 2009, now it can be accessed through various channels including streaming , Suaraedukasi.kemdikbud.go.id , podcasts , and Suara Edukasi partners. Suara Edukasi contents aim to facilitate learning and learning, including Sapa Edu, Info Edu, We Need to Know, Edu Stars, Exacta, Let's Learn, Fairy Tales, Our Culture, and others.

Learning Account (Belajar.id)

The Learning Account is an electronic account with the learning.id domain issued by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology and can be used by students, educators, and education staff as an account to access electronic-based learning applications. The aim is to support the learning process in the education unit through the application of technology and improve the connectivity between learning services. 

Utilization of Digital Technology for Learning

Technology cannot be separated from problems, because technology was born and developed to solve problems faced by humans. The Covid-19 pandemic is a collective problem for the nation and even the world that brings changes and demands for adaptation to various lines of life, including education and learning.

Technology is a catalyst for extraordinary innovation and change, especially in the current era of the new normal and the post-Covid-19 pandemic. How to use learning technology appropriately as needed will encourage the achievement of the learning objectives themselves. 

Then how? Teachers as facilitators of the implementation of learning activities have the freedom to design learning designs that will be applied in their respective classrooms, both physical and virtual spaces. The teacher's role in developing learning activities must be able to engineer student learning experiences that are interesting, varied, repetitive, and increasing.

The end of the achievement of learning objectives is at the level of student performance. The learning technology interventions that are selected and designed must be in accordance with the conditions and needs of students in their respective schools or regions.

There are many learning models that teachers can choose from, for example project-based learning (PjBL ), experiential learning , problem-based learning ( problem-based learning ), flipped-peer learning models, meaningful learning, and many more.
